Queenscliff Fire Brigade are the big winners
Over the Christmas - January school holiday period, holiday makers at Big4 Beacon Resort have enjoyed freshly made coffee, hot chocolate with marshmallows and even iced chocolate and iced coffee drinks provided by Geelong's leading mobile coffee van, Espresso Mobile Cafe.
Their brown and gold signwritten Mercedes van has provided their services at Beacon Resort daily from 8.30 am - 10.30 am and has seen holiday makers queuing for their drinks every morning as they casually wander to reception for their daily newspaper and kiosk requirements.
Australia Day saw the kids having a special treat with double marshmallows in their hot chocolate or white chocolate drinks. Espresso Mobile Cafe Geelong Barista and owners, Pam & Alan also presented Beacon Resort owner Lorraine Golightly with a cheque for $100.00 as a donation to their nominated beneficiary being Queenscliff Fire Brigade in appreciation of use of their facilities and power over the holiday period.
"it's been such a hit, Lorraine has already booked Espresso Mobile for the March 2012 long weekend, Easter school holidays and June long weekend" said owner Pam Hislop.

Contemporary Australians love coffee so Beacon Resort brought the brown and gold Mercedes coffee van into daily life at the BIG4 park from 8.30am during Christmas-January holiday period to serve fresh barista coffee for holiday makers and hot chocolate with marshmallows for the children. ”Beacon's idea to bring us in is very popular with everyone and we just love chatting with holiday makers while we serve up their drinks", Espresso Mobile barista Pam Hislop said.

The resort caravan park represents the best in the depth and quality of the state's tourism offerings. Beacon Resort's commitment to an ongoing program of facility upgrades and improvements to business practice and customer service has repeatedly set industry standards during its 40 years of operation.
The Golightly family owns and operates the park. They have shaped the business to be a leader in Australia's caravan industry growth over the past four decades as it blossomed from basic caravan and camping in the 1970’s when an amenities block and playground meant upmarket camping.
Beacon has an astonishing range of additional facilities and activities. Beacon Resort offers accommodation, caravan or camping experience, and aims to give guests access to simple things which reconnect with friends and family.
Modern cabins provide accommodation to suit a couple right through to the extended family. Groups are well looked after with several options including camping, caravan sites, motel rooms and self-contained units.

from The Geelong Times 12th March 2008
- Instead of waiting for customers to come to their stores, some traders have decided it's better to go wherever their customers are. Ian Kenins, Geelong Times, explores the growing trend in mobile businesses -
Russell Colyer - Espresso Mobile Cafe Geelong
It is unlikely there would be a mobile businessman more passionate about his product than Russell Colyer. While a big brown Mercedes is Colyer's office and source of income, it's something of a stage from which the 26 year old proudly demonstrates his considerable skill as a barista.
The 2005 turbo diesel van, complete with espresso machine, fridge, generator and other accessories, was purchased in partnership almost 3 years ago with former caravan park owners, Alan & Pam. "It was a big venture for me when I was so young, but they could see it was something I wanted to be good at." The then 24 year old completed a barista course at Danes Gourmet Coffee Institute in Sydney, and has returned several times since to further his knowledge. His day starts around 7.30 am, parking his van at local businesses, shopping areas, schools and even a retirement village, before finishing around 3.00 pm. Assistant Jade Costello notices a difference in espresso coffee strength at different locations. "You get a lot more double shots from the Tax office employees, whereas primary school teachers prefer mocha or vanilla latte."
While other mobile traders rate freedom and diversity as perks of their itinerate occupations, Russell Colyer is excited by the challenges that change with the weather. "The coffee grind reacts to humidity, so every time I open the back of the van, I have to change the grind and make it slightly finer. Even the bags of beans have to be moved around in different positions. I'm big on making sure people get the coffee they're after and have learnt there's no limit to learning about making the perfect coffee."

By Jeff Whalley
The humble cuppa produced by Geelong’s mobile espresso man Russell Colyer is frequently asked to perform all kinds of tiny daily miracles.Mr. Colyer’s brew is called on for the morning pick-me-up and to offer solace from a bad day, but yesterday morning, it was asked to help find a cure for cancer.
As part of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, one of Australia’s biggest cancer research fundraisers, Mr. Colyer collected cash from the hundreds of Geelong office workers and tradesman he visits daily.“from the tax office to the car dealerships to tyre workshops, people were happy to put in their money for a good cause,” he said.
Mr. Colyer said his Mercedes Vito, loaded with a coffee machine from Milan, reached so many people across town it would be an easy way to access fundraising for the cancer battle.Donations were received from every Zen Bakery muffin sold.
The 24-year-old Barista said he felt as though he was transporting goodwill around Geelong.“I haven’t been touched by cancer but so many other people I talked to today have” he said.
